Casey’s primary practice areas include corporate law, tax law, real estate, creditor’s rights, estate planning, and commercial transactions.  Casey advises firm clients on such matters as corporate structuring alternatives, strategic and business succession planning alternatives, wealth protection strategies and a variety of other outside corporate counsel related matters.  Casey serves as outside general counsel for many firm clients, assisting them with their day-to-day legal needs, including but not limited to, corporate governance related matters, contract and commercialization matters, as well as representing clients in a variety of other business related transactions. Casey also has experience in handling tax controversy and audit dispute related matters including Federal, State and local appeals regarding a variety of income, employment, and sales taxes issues.

Casey represents banks and businesses as creditors inside and outside of bankruptcy proceedings.  Casey’s work includes the representation of lenders and other creditors in workout negotiations, foreclosure and lien actions, loan document drafting and enforcement, appointments of receiver, pre-judgment attachments, and replevin actions.

Casey is also experienced in the formation and operation of non-profit organizations, and the acquisition of tax-free 501(c)(3) treatment through the IRS application, approval and ongoing corporate maintenance process.  This experience includes significant understanding of the treatment of other types of entities such as Political Action Committees, Super PACs, other 501(c) organizations and 527s.

While earning his law degree, Casey interned with the Cook County, Illinois State’s Attorney, and was a summer associate with Vincent | Fontg | Hansen | LLC before joining the firm full-time.
